Monthly Giveaways
I’m thrilled to be able to offer a fun, big giveaway each month here at Simple Family Preparedness!
I know that working towards being better prepared isn’t always easy and takes sacrifices. Oftentimes, those sacrifices are financial. I’ve been truly blessed (yes, I see it as a blessing) through the THRIVE Life business opportunity. My goal through these monthly giveaways, as well as the weekly ones as part of the Survival Kit Series is to “pay that forward” just a bit!
This month, I will be giving away a fantastic water package: Two 55 gallon water barrels with a water siphon, bung wrench and water treatment solution. It is basically this package plus an extra barrel!
Water storage is essential because water is essential to life. I post about water storage a lot. And I can’t wait to give this package away to some of my fabulous readers!
How to enter:
You must do two things to enter this giveaway:
- Leave a comment on this post on the blog and let me know 1 thing will do this month to increase the water you have stored for your family. If for some reason you have trouble commenting, email me at [email protected] and I will comment for you. But please do try to comment on your own first. Just make sure you copy / paste the code and check the little box that says you are human!
- Make sure you are connected to me somehow: Follow me on facebook, subscribe to the blog in a reader or by email, or sign up for my THRIVE Life (formerly Shelf Reliance) specials updates. Yes, following me in at least one of these ways is mandatory. Why? Well, I don’t’ want this great gift to go to just anyone! I want it to go to one of you: my loyal readers / customers! I will check to make sure the winner is somehow connected to me. NOTE: Please do not leave a separate comment telling me how you follow me (although you can include it in your main comment if you want!) as it makes it hard to tally up the valid entries when the giveaway is over.
That’s it! Just take 30 seconds to connect with me and leave me a comment telling me what you plan to do to increase your water storage!
Want Extra Entries?
Sure! Why not? If you are willing to do a little more, you can have a few “extra” entries (up to four entries max (1 mandatory and three extra). Please do not leave more than 4 comments total as it makes it difficult to count eligible entries:
- Use the little facebook button at the bottom of this post in order to share this giveaway with your facebook friends. Then, leave me another comment (in addition to the one above) letting me know that you did so.
- Pick one of your favorite posts from my site (use the search function or navigation menus at the top to find one) and use the “P” button at the bottom of the post to pin it to pinterest. Then, leave me another comment (in addition to the one(s) above) letting me know that you did so.
- Email at least 10 people about this giveaway and / or my site. Then, leave me another comment (in addition to the one(s) above) letting me know that you did so.

Misty,
I was able to get 4 each 5 gallon plastic military water cans and am in the process of cleaning them and will fill them with water. In our area of the country there is a lot of water in rivers, ponds, creeks, and lakes but the problem is purification.
Smart Don!
Awesome opportunity! Thanks so much for all you do!
Since I started following your blog and the Survival Kit Series, I’m making small steps towards self reliance. Just cleared off a 4-tier shelf in the basement that will be perfect for re-purposed 2-liter water storage. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I will be filling 2L soda bottles and juice jugs. I am subscribed to your blog via email.
I have saved several empty cleaned milk jugs and will be filling them!
This month I will continue to to buy water bottles (my only option right now). I have at this point enough to keep my family in water for 3 months plus enough to allow me extra if I have guests at a time when they are needed. My goal is to make sure I have enough water for at least one year. I would love to win the giveaway. That would really put me ahead of the game.
I want to thank you for all of the information that you put on your blog. My husband and I have just recently started gathering emergency provisions and really don’t have much knowledge of what we are doing at this point. We have two 5 gallon containers that we used to use for camping and are keeping those filled with water. We have also just this week started saving 2 liter bottles to fill.
We have an under the sink RO system. We will be unhooking a certain hose and collecting the extra water that usually goes down the drain. We water our trees and garden with it. We collect rain water as well and would enjoy the nice drums 😀

I plan of filling the couple dozen 1 gal jugs and all the 2L bottles I have and store in the garage. Figure I can use some sort of water purifier if necessary. At a minimum it would make ok water for the pets. We have 2 5 gal jugs filled and I would think with filtering our hottub maybe a water source for cleaning/bathing at a minimum.
I like to pick up the Gallon Water Bottles at the Dollar Store and keep them in my Pantry for myself, roommate, and pets, enough for all of us for three days. I rotate these from time to time. I do intend to buy a fifty five gallon water storage container, I intend to keep that in the closet. I also have a FEMA water purification kit (five gallon size) purchased from Outback and keep that in my car and have a Katydyn Water Pump in my Bug Out Bag. I also have a ‘pretty’ water purification system on my countertop, which also uses some sophisticated filters and Adya Clarity. It’s amazing how much ‘gunk’ it filters out!
Thanks for your informative articles!
I pinned your survival kit ideas post!
We bought filtering water bottles for our kits!
following on FB, and purchase gallon water on reg basis as well as cases of water. thinking about those filter straws for the ER kit as well
whew that was alot of direections for entering….I am hoping that this will count as at least one….I made a first step to “permanent” water storage…I brought water bottles (individual size) and 2 l bottles of soda…yeah…I know it is bad for me…but a nice treat!….and will fill them after they empty. The rain barrels would be a HUGE addition!! Love the site…am always recommmending it to others……
