I hope all of you here in the states have some great fun plans!   What will you be doing?  Fireworks? Parades? A barbeque? Carnivals? Fairs? A Picnic? A Concert?  Family reunions?  Lots of fun stuff goes on this weekend!

We are headed up to my parents for a fun family get-together with lots of cousins.  We’ll do/watch some fireworks, barbeque a bunch, and likely have a few picnics.  I love family time and I can’t wait!

Happy 4th of July Challenge!

While fun, this holiday is all about independence and self-reliance, right?  Being a US citizen, I am so grateful for that day in 1776 when the declaration of independence was adopted.  Though our country is not perfect, I am grateful for our founding fathers and what they fought for (both literally and figuratively).  I’m grateful for all those who continue to fight today.

In honor of the 4th of July, I challenge you to “declare” your own “independence” and then “fight” for it!  Write down WHY you want to be self-reliant and WHAT you will do about it this summer.  Make a list of at least 10 things you will do before fall to increase your family’s preparedness/independence/self-reliance.

I’d love it if you posted your lists here in the comments!  I’m sure we’d all love to get ideas from each other!
