Hey everyone! It’s Kate again, and I’m here to give you more tips about prepping in an apartment. Now, don’t let the title of this post mislead you – ALL of the THRIVE foods make my life eaiser! It just happens that there are a few standouts that I must have on hand at all times.
 1. Instant Milk
This is the number one THRIVE product that is always in my pantry. It tastes fantastic (and I’m not usually a milk-lover), and its convenience can’t be beat. In the area of the city where I
live, it’s not safe to go to the grocery store at night to buy a gallon of milk for the next morning. THRIVE Instant Milk completely removed this problem from my life.  If I run out milk unexpectedly, it’s easy to reconstitute some more. Also, I used to have to deal with spoiled milk all the time when I was still buying my dairy from the grocery store. I just couldn’t get through the milk fast enough before it would go bad. Now, I only mix up the amount that I know I can use (whether that’s a cup or a quart).

2. Whole Egg Powder
Much like my milk problems, I had a hard time going through a dozen (or even a half-dozen) eggs before they were no longer usable. I rarely eat eggs by themselves, but I do like to bake cookies and brownies. Now, instead of using three eggs from a carton and forgetting about the rest, I keep a pantry can of THRIVE whole egg powder in my cupboard. You don’t even have to go through the extra step of reconsituting the egg powder when you’re baking, you can just mix in the egg powder with the dry ingredients. You then increase the total water in the recipe by 2 tablespoons per “egg.”

3. and 4. Freeze Dried Celery and Carrot Dices
I always have fresh carrots and celery in my fridge – they’re great healthy snacks. In fact, it seems like the only time that I
don’t keep these delicious veggies on hand is when I really need them for a recipe! Homemade soups aren’t the same without carrots and celery, but I was often forced to exclude them because I didn’t know my fridge was empty until too late. These “oops” moments don’t bother me anymore because of THRIVE. The freeze-dried celery and carrot dices are two of my favorite products.

5. Brownie Mix
I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I have absolutely no self control if I make a whole cake or a big pan of brownies….so I have to find creative ways to indulge while still controlling my portions. Did you know that you can make a single-serving brownie in less than a minute with THRIVE brownie mix? Mix about 1/4 cup of brownie mix in a small ramekin or mug, then add 2 tablespoons of water and mix together. Microwave for 30-45 seconds and you’re done! I like to spread a little peanut butter on top when I want a treat that’s extra-special.

These five THRIVE foods make my apartment life easier – I waste less food, spend less money, and I eat a lot healthier.
